Joe Wilson should remember what a liar looks like

At about 1:00 it all falls down for Bush. Where was the "you lie!" then?

P.S.

What was bush doing while people were suffering and dying after Katrina?

Saggitarius strikes again

Sag always has the best scopes!

SAGITTARIUS
(Nov. 22-Dec. 21): "That which can be destroyed by the truth should be," wrote author P.C. Hodgell. I wish there were a gentler way to articulate that wisdom, but I can't think of one. Instead, I'll suggest a way to apply it so as to make the end result more graceful than shocking: Don't pour out the whole truth all at once in one big dramatic gesture. Do it gradually and tenderly. As you do, keep in mind that when the truth has finally dismantled the thing that could not endure the truth, you may be able to use the debris as raw material to build something new that the truth will feel right at home in.

What truth do you need to tell?
Can you tell it gradually and tenderly?
What will you build out of the debris of what the truth destroys?
Are there any questions more important than these?

Drake, Black Mama and Me

Peace yall,

Wanted to share a brief convo with a good friend Gigi about Fiyah's Black Mama video (produced, directed, and edited by your boy!) and Drake's "Best I ever had" video.  Want to get your take too.  Both videos are posted after the emails for you to check out.  Join the convo!

hey mikejust going through my emails, catching up... thanks for sending this and for doing this. you rock. but why would we need this [BLACK MAMA VIDEO]more now as opposed to at any point in the last couple of decades that mainstream hip hop has been poisoned/infiltrated by misogyny? i also just saw drake's video for the first time. is that much different than anything we've been seeing, or in your opinion, has there actually been progress? call me cynical, but it's the drake BS is just the same shit different day, to me personally.
hope you are well with the family

Hey Gigi,
Good to hear from you sista!  I hope you are doing well, good, great, and wonderful!

I was excited about making Black Mama because I don't think I've ever seen a hip hop video that specifically speaks to mothers (Black or other wise) other than the standard "I (man) love my mama".  "I love my mama" is cool, but this is a song written by a mama, about what she wants for her life, other women and mothers, and for her family.  It is a meta-feminist narrative that can be critiqued for the idea of having to "save Black men", but is a reflection of where feminism has to engage folks if its going to get my sister and other Black (and other women of color) mamas fully down.
I think the reason Drake's shit pissed me and alot of folks off is because the song and him as an artist come across as offering something (slightly) different, new and better than
the misogynist garbage.  Then the video comes out and its the same old shit and even worse in some ways.  He doesn't just objectify women's bodies... but he makes them sound
stupid (the way they talk), clueless (in the way they play ball), useless for anything other than to fit tight jerseys, and utterly manipulatable (physically with the extreme stretching and mentally - they are easily misled when Drake tells them all 'You're the best').  Its one thing to zoom in on a woman's butt and breasts.  Its another to lower the music, give her a chance to speak, and have her make herself look really, really dumb.  I wonder how Drake's mama felt about that video.

The video was garbage and I turn Drake's shit off the minute it comes on the radio... I ain't being self-righteous.  I love women's bodies as much as anybody.  I just aint supporting shit that dehumanizes women. I have a beautiful baby girl and a son.
This is part of why I'm working on my own album/mixtape "Anthem", something to get the movement moving.
